♥ nerd! and you!

Do you know what nerd means?

According to Wikipedia, nerd is a term often bearing a *derogatory connotation or stereotype, that refers to a person who passionately pursues intelectual activities, *esoteric knowledge, or other obscure interests that are age inappropriate rather than engaging in more social or popular activities. Therefore, a nerd is often excluded from physical activities and considered a loner by peers, or will tend to associate with like minded people.

Then, what if you are one of them? We, medical students also have to study real hard, burning the midnight oil [irrelevant now], prepare for labs, settling every reports and study 40++ lecture notes in a few days time, just for our lovely exam by the end of 7th week every block. So, should we consider ourselves as nerdy? I believed that every one of us have their own little dreams, and things we would love to do, let it be an ambition to be a dentist, involve in music, fashions, managements, politics, law, sports or just a simple dream of maybe being a plain yet wonderful housewife. But our path cross here in Gadjah Mada University. While doing things that need to be done, we too living as a normal human being, catch a movie or two, go for sports practices, make time for usrah and ta'lim, and maybe just hangout with good friends for dinner. :) do what you love and love what you need to do.

"When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy." [rumi]

*derogatory: disparaging, belittling
*esoteric: intended for or understood by only a particular group, being inward

#calling myself nerd sounds so cool right now.hoho#

at the same time, dear.....

We always say that 'i just want to be me'. I personally watched a lot of disney movies, kept getting the messages that: you have to follow your heart, about being true to yourself, and I believed them all. Hey, don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong in following your dreams. Instead, we just have this one life right. But few years back, i started to realize, when what you do is not what Allah's ask you to do. Should you still be true to your heart? The bigger question: is that really what your heart wants?

dan semalam, aku terpempan dengan kata-kata ini:

"kita rasa susah untuk berubah sebab merasakan itulah identiti diri kita, tapi kita tak sedar sebenarnya itu adalah jahiliyah."

We think that' i just want to be me' based on our our surroundings, how we grew up, who are our friends, etc. but, do you think that this 'real you' deserve jannah from Allah. *take some time to think*

"And I have not created the jinn and the men except that they should serve Me." [az-zariyat:56]

Truthfully, no one ask us to change our identity. as each person is very unique in their own way. Gentle and diplomatic Abu Bakr, our first khalifah is not the same with fierce and firm Umar. Both, in their own way shared with us the most important ibrah (lesson), Islam will not change you. Islam just leading you where you should use your talent/personality. Islam guides you on how to be a better person. Both of them had told us that it is aaa-okay if you are a soft spoken or strong-headed and hard-hearted, you can still contribute to Islam.

"verily, in all these there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs." [al-hijr:75]

My Lord, endow me with wisdom and join me with the righteous. ameen.

take some time to click on 'jalan kita bersama' and 'rise of islam' under my bloglists.
